Keeping the business of building vibrant & profitable

The BIA is hard at work defending your business in local, state and national government. The BIA literally saves you thousands of dollars every year for every home and commercial/industrial building. We work in the community to ensure there is adequate infrastructure in place to keep the business of building alive. Whether it is an ordinance or legislation, regulation or rules the BIA is working behind the scenes to ensure Northern Kentucky is a friendly community to building and economic development.

Advocacy

Advocacy is at the heart of the BIA. Our accomplishments protect your business and save you money. In the last decade we have:

  • Kept residential and industrial streets affordable
  • Provided resources for cost-efficient home builds
  • Opened thousands of acres of development through upgrades in infrastructure
  • Reduced the cost of environmental regulations for residential development and industrial development providing savings in the thousands

Through our efforts, we have representation at every planning commission, Sanitation District #1, water districts, and in local and state government. We ask that you join the BIA to get involved in our advocacy efforts.  There are several committees and councils committed to advocacy throughout the year, trips to Frankfort and our Nation’s Capital, and other opportunities to for you to advocate on behalf of your industry. There are two fulltime staff in Frankfort and one in your local BIA representing the industry and our members.  There also is an entire department at NAHB focused on advocacy and a separate department on regulations.

The BIA understands that decisions made in Frankfort and in Fiscal Courtrooms and City Buildings across Northern Kentucky affect your business. By participating in our political Action efforts, you will increase your ability to impact decisions that affect you and your business.  By contributing at various levels there are rewards you earn at BIA events. The BIA succeeds at supporting candidates for office that are friendly to your business and as an active participant in our political action efforts you can help shape the outcomes of the political landscape here at home and across the state.

When you encounter a rule, regulation, law or agency that creates an issue and affects your business, please call on us. Your staff team member liaison for advocacy and political action is Brian Miller, Executive Vice President. Email Brian at bmill@BuildersNKY.com
